Buddha's Birthday in Busan

I had planned on going to Beijing for the three day long weekend.  I wanted to walk the Great Wall, snack on some skeward creepy crawlies from street stands, and I wanted to lose myself in a different country.  But, three days just wasn't worth it when it came down to buying the airline ticket and getting time off work to go get the visa.  So instead, I opted to play the explorer and visit some parts of Korea that I have never been before.

My two friends and I decided to do it big in Busan, the coastal town way down south and second most populated city in South Korea.  I got myself a house sitter to pet sit my three rugrats for me while I was away.  I don't know where she came from, but I swear it must have been a gift from god for someone to want to travel al the way into rural-ville and spend three days.

Where: Busan, South Korea
When: Buddha's Birthday, May 20-23
Why: Beaches. Friendship. Adventure.
The Highs: Hyeundae Beach where we watched the sun rise up from distant buildings, and where we went swimming, played frisbee, and just lounged around suntanning and laughing.
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, the most enchanting views of the ocean from cliffside.
                Friday's weather was heavenly.
The Lows: It rained on Saturday and Sunday. That's an understatement.  In actuality, it pissed nonstop.
Fun Fact:  I want to move there next year.

More to come...

  2. Is it just me, or are your blogs slowing down a little, dork? lol

Anyway, sounds like you had some fun. And hey. Rainstorms makes things very epic.

I don't know what it is, but I think I'm paranoid about house-sitters. I wouldn't even let my sister look after my room if I was gone for a weekend... Unplug everything and password-lock my computer...
